Warping and first layer not sticking: how to fix
Lifted corners or a first layer that peels off depend on the plate, temperature and drafts.
Plate
- Wash with water and dish soap, then isopropyl alcohol
- Don’t touch the plate with your fingers
- Use glue stick on PETG and smooth plates as a release layer or aid
Temperature and speed
- Raise the bed 5 °C if corners lift
- Slow first layer: 30 mm/s
- Fan off for the first 3 layers
Helpers
- 5–8 mm brim on large parts and on ABS/ASA
- Closed chamber for ABS, ASA, PC and nylon
- Avoid drafts and open windows near the printer
Nozzle-to-plate distance
Run auto bed levelling and, if needed, adjust Z offset: a first layer too high won’t stick, too low gets squashed.
